128 kbps provides acceptable quality for speech and podcasts. 192 kbps is good for most music. 256 kbps is high quality. 320 kbps is the maximum MP3 quality, virtually indistinguishable from the original.

For voice recordings and podcasts, 128 kbps is sufficient. For music, use 256 or 320 kbps. Higher bitrates produce better quality but larger file sizes.
